Q-What is getting a versa spa spray tan like? How long does it take and is a person spraying me?

A-The VersaSpa has an extremely fine mist (the finest in the industry) which evenly showers you in the bronzing solution ensuring no streaking or blotching and leaves you with a flawless tan free of drips. VersaSpa is an open concept machine. There are no doors to close on you, and you do not feel restricted, or claustrophobic while doing your session. There are exhaust fans which draw in excess solution so you do not have to breathe it, as well as an infrared heater to keep you warm as you are sprayed. There are three levels in the VersaSpa. The lightest color is Level 1 and this gives you a nice sun kissed look. The darkest color is Level 3 and this level gives you a deep dark rich bronze tan. Each skin type darkens and reacts differently to each solution level.

Q-I've tried over-the-counter sunless tanner and those hand-held airbrush sprayed tanning sessions. I would often find fingerprints, have missed a spot, or have just gotten a blotchy color as a result. It’s pretty common, from what my friends have told me—but I have never had that problem when I treat myself to sunless tanning in the VersaSpa system, why is that?

A-Sunless tanning has certainly come a long way, the same with spray tanning, lotions, etc. Within the new VersaSpa system, sunless tanning formula is applied using an exclusive airbrush nozzle, which sprays a fine, even mist all over the body—while you relax and enjoy. This unique applicator ensures that the solution goes on evenly, and thoroughly every time. It is not applied by a hand held nozzle and you won’t find any fingerprints or smudges on your body. Its basically an application system that has revolutionized sunless tanning. You can easily get an all over tan, with "even" results that look *natural* with a pretty bronzed color. There are many ways to get your bronze on, just make sure you're up to date with all the new technology, lotions and ways to apply that tan. Mike Hamm Question:  A friend has suggested that I use an exfoliate to eliminate facial acne. Is this harmful? Can I exfoliate and still tan?

ANSWER:  When used properly exfoliation is not harmful or damaging. Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells from the skin's surface. One of the leading causes of enlarged pores, under-the-surface bumps and blackheads is dead skin cells containing melanin pigmentation clogging the pore. This causes sebum oil to backup under the skin's surface. Experts agree that most exfoliates are far too harsh and drying for facial skin-even oily types. You should always read the ingredients in your moisturizer, if it contains mineral oil, petrolatum or paraffin, these products plug your pores and restrict oxygen from entering your skin. If you are one to tan, you should exfoliate your skin. The reason simply is that dry skin does not tan. It reflects UV light. Healthy, hydrated, moisturized skin tans better, faster and darker. If you exfoliate the night before you tan, this will put your skin in the right pH balance and allow for new cells to develop. If your pores are plugged UV light actually reflects off of your skin. This will not help you when you are trying to achieve that golden brown tan!  Some other tips to help your skin stay healthy are: • Use a liquid soap, bar soap tends to dry out your skin. • Try to steer clear of very hot water when you shower, hot water pulls the moisture out of your skin• After a shower is the best time to moisturize your skin, warmth causes the cuticle (the outer most layer of the skin) to open and allows moisture in through the pores of the skin.So exfoliate, moisturize and love the skin you're in!

ANSWER: The importance of using protective eyewear while tanning can never be stressed enough. What value can you put on something that is so vital it is responsible for more than 80 percent of all the information we receive on a daily basis?    Although ultraviolet light offers the rays necessary for developing that beautiful, golden tan, this same light can be detrimental to unprotected eyes. The federal government along with many state agencies require that anyone using a tanning device do so only while wearing eyewear that blocks out 99.9 percent of UVB light and 99 percent of UVA light. These are two types of UV light used in the tanning process. The eyelid is too thin to be able to protect the eyes from UV light penetration. So, unless you are using federally compliant eyewear offered by your professional indoor tanning salon, you might not have the adequate protection needed to safeguard your eyesight.
