4th Year... THANKS... and News
It has been quite a ride since we began our research back in mid- 2000, when we were trying to decide whether or not a publication that was totally Q & A would fly.  Now, as we begin our 4th year of publishing The Q & A Times, we are getting closer to knowing the answer.
It has been quite a ride since we began our research back in mid-2000, when we were trying to decide whether or not a publication that was totally Q & A would fly.  Now, as we begin our 4th year of publishing The Q & A Times, we are getting closer to knowing the answer.  Maybe we’re not soaring with the Eagles yet... and maybe we will find a limit to what we can do... but at this writing... our audience is ever-growing and as loyal as any we could have fathomed.   As we begin this fourth year, I need to say a few ‘thank yous’ to those who have allowed us the time, energy, investment and patience to get our publication ‘airborne’.   • 1st... you the reader:If you were not reading what we ‘package’, we would be grounded.  Research has shown for over 50 years that of all the types of editorial (i.e. main news, sports, lifestyle, social, food & drink, local, classified, etc.), nothing performs as well in time-spent-reading by the reader as does Q & A.  During those 50 years, columns like Dear Abby and Ann Landers outscored everything else in the daily newspapers in time-spent-reading.  We now know it’s no different here in Kansas.  We have people tell us they read what we have from cover to cover because they don’t want to miss anything.  Then, when they’re through, they keep us as a resource piece.  As any media owner or operator knows, the top two most important things one tries to achieve is time-spent-with-media and shelf-life.  We are blessed.  Thank you.   2nd... our writers:Our concept for a publication that was totally Q & A, came about as the result of spending a lot of time thinking about those who have died.  So many good and intelligent people... spending 30, 40, 50 years or more learning about things of this life, then passing on without being able to share everything they know.  We who are left have to re-learn it all.  Imagine how fast we would move as a society if over half of our time wasn’t spent relearning what others already know... or knew. The Q & A Times is our attempt to rectify this.  Who knows more about how a heat pump works than a person who runs a company that sells heat pumps; who eats, breathes, and sleeps heat pumps; and who sincerely cares about sharing what he/she knows with others?  The same goes for investments; sports equipment; banks; credit unions; insurance; tires, batteries & accessories; furniture; carpeting and floor covering; food & drink; health; medicine; fitness; automobiles; and so many more topics of interest.  We don’t let our writers use pronouns like “I”, “We’, “Ours”, or “Us”, or the name of their company, products and/or services.  Their job is to provide information and education as they answer the questions.  When they do, they garner the benefits of the best kind of public relations, which is after all, just one other form of marketing.  Without them... without their knowledge... without their desire to share... we would not have what we have.  We are blessed.  Thank you.3rd... our advertisers:As is the case with any media, if advertisers don’t support it, it dies quickly.  Fortunately, we have been blessed with a host of local and regional businesses who have stayed with us, with more and more finding out about us and joining us all the time.  Thank you.4th... our members of the clergy:I would also like to thank members of the clergy who have graciously taken so much time and energy to work with us throughout our history in providing information and education to people of all walks of life... getting them to think about all kinds of things... including their salvation.  We use an analogy at The Q & A Times... a baby who is teething generally runs a bit of a temperature.  Liquid aspirin often does the trick to bring it down.  But, if you gave the liquid aspirin to the baby straight, the baby spits it out.  So, you mix it with something the baby prefers... like applesauce... then it works great.  If Q & A is the ‘applesauce’... and it must be as much as people like to read and ‘consume’ it... our clerics’ answers each month on religion is the ‘liquid aspirin’.  If just one person stops and thinks as they’re reading about how he or she is living... what he or she is doing to help their neighbor... or what ‘it’s really all about’... we have won big time.  Thank you.Lastly, I would like to share with you our plans for the future.  In addition to continuing to insert The Q & A Times into other publications in the area, and direct-mailing our paper to the largest number of businesses of any publication in the market... we are beginning... this month... to direct-mail to a large selection of households throughout the Greater Wichita Area.  This may be the first time you have ever seen The Q & A Times.  We are hoping you like it and ‘consume’ it as do our other readers... cover to cover.  But, since each month we will change this selection to a new selection of households, you may not get The Q & A Times each month.  In order to get our publication each month you will need to buy a subscription.  It’s not as bad as you might think... the price is only $12 per year... or just $1.00 per month.  The subscription application is on Page 3.  Over time, we would hope to become a totally subscriber-based publication.  If we continue to be blessed with readers... writers... and advertisers... like we have been in the past... I’m sure God will take care of the rest.  I better thank Him too... thank you God.
