Makeup for day and evening
Question: How do I transform my make-up from "Daytime Office" to evening?
ANSWER: There is a major difference between day make-up and evening make-up. Most people think they can just add more of their day make-up and they have created their evening look. This is not the case! The main reason for this is lighting, and the nature of the light source. For instance, fluorescent light projects a blue tone. People with blue eyes usually have red in their skin tone, which is accentuated under blue light. People with brown eyes will see that their skin tone appears to be yellow or greenish in florescent lighting. You can begin to understand, this is what is affecting the look of your make-up. Incandescent lights are yellow or red in tone. This red light tends to soften all colors. This is why you need to change your cosmetics for each scenario, or for the light source you will be under. Since the red light softens all colors, you will need to add more contrast so that colors show up. Light tones affect us all, with natural sunlight being the most complementary to the most skin tones. A daytime look is natural, not dramatic. Following these steps will make you look your best during daytime and easily transformed to an evening look:1) Apply foundation with a moistened cosmetic sponge; it evens out skin tone. Coverage should include the entire face including eyelids and lips.2) Apply concealer that is one or two shades lighter than the foundation with the same moistened cosmetic sponge.3) Blush gives color to the face and accentuates cheekbones. Apply blush just below the cheekbones, blending on top of the bone toward the top of the cheek. Never apply blush lower than the nose, as this will "drag down" the face.4) Eye shadow can be applied as one color or a blend of colors. Keep the darker shade to the outside of the eyelid to avoid making the eyes appear too close set. 5) Loose powder applied with a brush, sets the foundation and finishes the make-up blending.6) Eyeliner accentuates the eyes. Thinner lines are usually used in daytime wear, and a wider, bolder line for eveningwear.7) Mascara enhances the eyes and lashes and finishes the eye make-up application.8) Lip liner helps to define the lips and correct imperfections. Light colored lipsticks make the lips appear larger or fuller, and dark colored lipsticks make the lips appear smaller or thinner. Bright colors make a statement!9) It is necessary to have eyebrows appropriately arched to enhance your natural beauty. Enhance the natural shape with an eyebrow pencil the same shade as your natural brow. Tinting the eyebrows is an option for a fair skinned person. For a natural daytime look, use a lighter hand in applying make-up and use neutral colors. Before applying any cosmetics, use the proper cleanser, toner, and moisturizer for your skin type. Using a regular skin care program will improve the look and wear of your make-up. To transform your daytime look to eveningwear without starting over, simply add darker and more exciting colors to touch up your daytime look. Soft, low evening light allows you the opportunity to 'over dramatize' your make-up application. But, moderation is still the key; you don't want to end up with clown face!
