: How does the song "Auld Lang Syne" go, and what does it mean?
ANSWER: The song you're referring to actually means "Old Long Ago, or The Good Old Days".  Robert Burns wrote the lyrics to Auld Lang Syne in the 1700's in Scotland. It is traditionally sung at the stroke of midnight to ring in the New Year wishing happiness and hope for a bright and prosperous year. Horns are blown, confetti is thrown, and a general party atmosphere is created. In spite of the popularity of "Auld Lang Syne", it is often described as 'the song that nobody knows'.
