Non-surgical face lift - part 2
:  I have heard a lot of talk about new age-defying skin care facial machines.  What are they and do they really work?
ANSWER: Last month I addressed the great benefits of the Light Therapy and Skin Lifting machines. This month I am addressing the micro-epidermabrasion treatment. There are different manufacturers that have developed micro-dermabrasion and micro-epidermabrasion machines. I am familiar with the S.T. Peel machine and have experienced treatments with this machine. The micro-epidermabrasion treatment is one of the best preventive and corrective treatments for aging skin.  Age thins out the dermis and thickens the corneous layer.  Micro-epidermabrasion triggers the skin's repair mechanism.  Allowing the dermis to form new collagen and elastin fibers, the skin then becomes thicker and more functional.  The corneum is thinned to reveal a beautiful glowing skin. Clients will see a general improvement in skin’s texture with the first treatment; however a series of 6 - 12 treatments provides optimal skin rejuvenation benefits. The micro-epidermabrasion treatment actually has tiny Medical Grade Corundum crystals.  Do not allow a professional technician to use crystals that are not Medical or Pharmaceutical grade.  They may be hazardous to your skin.  These tiny crystals roll across the skin and with the suction of a vacuum-like tip, vacuum dead skin cells into a container, leaving the skin fresh looking and smooth. This treatment is basically a skin resurfacing treatment. It is a non-invasive, non-surgical treatment that can dramatically reduce fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots, some stretch marks and small acne scars.  It will enhance the skins natural production of collagen and elastin while encouraging new healthy cell growth, resulting in healthier skin.Micro-epidermabrasion is unlike the medical micro-dermabrasion.  The medical micro-dermabrasion involves the complete removal of the epidermis and partial removal of the dermis (causing bleeding).  The aesthetic micro-epidermabrasion is a gradual and gentle way of correcting skin flaws and strengthening the dermis and epidermis to achieve an anti-aging effect. More next month...
