Non-surgical face lift - part 3
: I have heard a lot of talk about new age-defying skin care facial machines. What are they and do they really work?
ANSWER: Last month I began addressing micro-epidermabrasion as an age-defying facial treatment. This treatment is one of the best preventive and corrective treatments for aging skin. I'll continue where I left off:For any medical conditions or procedures the professional technician should refer the client to a physician. It is also common practice to sign a consent form before the treatment begins. As with any facial treatment the professional will keep thorough records on the clients' skin type to note the client's medical background and skin type and changes there after. There are certain skin conditions that should NOT have this treatment. The following information is very important to understand prior to your micro-epidermabrasion treatment:• The client should avoid using any irritating products one week prior to the treatment. The client may resume using the products 3-weeks following the treatments.• Definitely avoid all sunlight before and after a micro-epidermabrasion treatment.• Swimming in a chlorinated pool may irritate the skin after a treatment.• If the client is under a physician's care for acne or any other skin condition, they should get the physician's written consent before having this treatment.• If you have any questions or concerns on this treatment ask your professional technician or your physician. After the treatment the client may feel a tingling sensation at the moment of product application. The skin may even feel like a wind burn or sunburn. This is due to the fact that the hydrolipidic film that naturally protects the skin surface has been removed and will take 48-hours to reform itself. This is a normal feeling after a micro-epidermabrasion treatment. The duration of the treatment depends on the skin surface and the area that is being treated. The professional technician may pass over the skin area more than once. This treatment can be performed on the body skin as well as the face. Of course, when performing this treatment on the body, the length of the service will be longer. The most common time for this facial treatment is 20-40 minutes. Each treatment will produce a specific result. Depending on the purpose, a series of treatments will be suggested, usually between 1 and 15 sessions. The most common series of treatments is 6-12 monthly treatments for basic facial improvements.I personally have had this treatment and I noticed a visible difference in my skin after the first session. It does not hurt, but I did feel the wand move across my face. My eyes were protected with eye covers. My skin felt soft, pliable and full of energy after my session.   This definitely is a treatment worth having! The average cost for a facial micro-epidermabrasion is between $125-$200. There are special price cuts for purchasing a package of treatments and several local salons and medical clinics that offer treatments.
