With all the mess, are we closer to the end times?
QUESTION: I wonder why God had the Bible and Koran (Quran) written, for all future generations of mankind, by people from around 1500 B.C. to the first few centuries A.D.   Why did He not allow for other people to be so inspired as to write additional books through the present day? Is everything, that any generation ever needs to know, contained in what we already have?

ANSWER: If God speaks, He can do so for all of mankind's needs.  Our nature and needs have not changed over the centuries.  However, the Bible was written over a period of 2000 years and covered the history of a people who underwent the whole range of experiences that a country can undergo: small family; large group in slavery;  a new nation forming; a nation becoming divided and losing its initial uniting vision; a conquered nation reforming;  a nation living under a conquering super-power;  a nation with a new God-given message and purpose; that nation destroyed and scattered.
Within this nation, there were featured poets, kings, prophets of doom, women from foreign nations struggling to immigrate, philosophers, military leaders, prophets of the future.  These were presented with all the faults and  failures of real people.  Prophets were not perfect saints,  but real people coming into contact with God.
The writers included a physician, a tax collector, fishermen, business men, farmers, ranchers, high officials in foreign governments, and a multi cultural missionary. Any of us can relate to some of these whose life experiences are like ours.  Do more samples need to be repeated for our times?
However, the Bible makes it clear that absolutely new times are coming and that we should not assume that our conditions will continue....but the Author of the First Book will control the new world coming. It is essential that we know the one continuing reality: The God Who has directed these writings;  they are to make us ready for the future.
The need to take care of human evil was provided in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, God in human form, who showed that the Creator God is One Who loves humans...Who actually wants us to be able to be with Him.  Heaven is God's desire for us!  "For God loved the world of men so much that He gave His only Son so that whoever trusted in Him would have life eternal."  John 3:16
( I have not answered your question in relation to the Quran.  It was written by one man, at one time, in one land, for one culture.  You may find it more difficult to make it relevant to your time and place.)
