Will we all get along in Heaven?
There are many verses in the Bible that show heaven to be a place of absolute happiness, including 1 Corinthians 2:9. My wife and I have been married for many years. I am happier being with her than with anyone else. Suppose I die first, and she remarries, and all of us (me, her, and her new husband) end up in Heaven. Will I spend an eternity watching her with her new husband? Will he spend an eternity watching me with her? How does all of this work out?
ANSWER:Jesus was asked almost the same question by some religious leaders who were trying to show that the idea of life-after-death was foolish. See Matthew 22:23-30. They told Him a ridiculous story of a woman who had six husbands die, and married a seventh. "Whose wife will she be in the resurrection?" Jesus said that they were ignorant of the Scriptures, and that in Heaven there would be no marriage but that we will be like the angels. I understand Him to mean that there will be no sexes! Does that disappoint you? Can you believe that there will be something better? It is like telling a child that in Heaven there will be no chocolate or bicycles! That doesn't sound so deprived to an adult. We will have relationships so intimate and satisfying that my wife and I will be delighted with our new situation. If I die before my wife, I hope she finds another husband...she is too good a wife to be without a husband. She actually has suggested a replacement wife for me should she die first. (We haven't told the woman of her plan.) I hope you can trust God to give you His best....joy and fulfillment beyond your imagination. So receive His gift by entrusting yourself to His Son as your Lord and Savior. I Cor. 2:9 is true!
