Mark and Lalana Moore
Mark and LaLana Moore owners and operators of Scenic Landscapes have been passionately involved in the water gardening since 1990. Mark actually started Scenic Landscapes in 1978, and later established the nursery in 1985. The focus on building waterfalls, koi ponds, and water-gardens came later. Since the early days, hard work, continuous study, research, and experience has helped to expand their business to the exciting and inspirational place it is today. Scenic Landscapes and Water Garden Nursery Inc. now offers free weekly seminars on pond building, water-gardening, and fish care. You may visit them at 5911 West Maple or give Mark or LaLana a call at (316) 942-4861.

Green water, how to keep it from growing
I have a preform pond and the water is green most of the time. I want to make it bigger and deeper. Should I add on to this container or start over?
I would suggest taking the container out and using it to house your fish while reconstructing your pond and use it when you clean your new pond once a year. Dig the hole deeper, making at least 1/3 of the pond at least 3 feet deep, preferably where the waterfall area is. Dig a 2 foot deep area for the water lilies and a 1 foot deep area for the marginal and bog plants. The deeper the water, the cooler it will be and the algae will not bloom as profusely. There are natural products you can use to help control algae that cause green water and string algae.
