Massages help reduce toxins and stress
My friend was telling me she gets a regular massage to get rid of toxin build up. What does she mean by toxin build up? I always thought massage was just for relaxation. Does it really have other benefits? How do I know which kind of massage to choose with so many to choose from?
Your friend is correct. Stress can be the leading cause of many factors affecting people’s health today. While massage therapy can offer a time to relax and be at a peace of mind, body and spirit it also offers many health related benefits as well. These benefits include: • Improved circulation throughout the entire body • Releases and ridding the body of toxins and calcium deposits • Detoxifying the body’s systems with the addition of a dry sauna treatment • Aids in chiropractic treatments • Releases pinched nerves in the shoulders and or hips • Helps keep body limber for some medical conditions, as well as athletes • Can prevent shin splints that lead to stress fractures • Helps clear sinuses and lymphatic system • Can help lower stress and blood pressure, if related to stress • Helps with anxiety Many people attribute stress as the only factor in the tightness of their muscles in their shoulders and back. But what many people are not aware of are the other factors they do have control of. When there is a lack of water consumption, toxins and calcium deposits will build up in the body causing aches, pains, tightness of muscle groups and even cramping or “charlie horses”. The only way to rid your body of these symptoms is to break down these toxins. The way to do that is through muscular manipulation and more water consumption. Water carries these toxins to be filtered out. Without water they just sit there and collect. Without massage to help break these toxins down it takes longer for them to release on their own. But through increased circulation, stimulating the lymphatic system and proper knowledge of massage techniques it can take an hour out of every two weeks or one month to release them. It also helps to start out the detox process with a dry sauna, offered at some spas. This usually takes 10 to 20 minutes and is done prior to a massage treatment. Dry saunas also can help people losing weight because it speeds up the metabolism, but makes you feel calm and rested, unlike diet pills that make you feel “rushed”. More next month…
