Different types of cleaning methods
Question: There are so many different types of carpet cleaning methods; could someone please explain the differences?
Answer: There are primarily 4 different carpet cleaning methods currently being used. Each method has its own advantages, and disadvantages, I’ll try to break it down to make it as simple as possible. •Bonnet Cleaning: The advantage is that it is normally faster, less expensive; it tends to dry fast, and is excellent for high traffic area. The disadvantage for this type of cleaning is that it only cleans the surface. •Hot Water Extraction: This is a very good method, as it deep cleans and sanitizes your carpet. This method is also good to help control odors. This method does have some disadvantages, as it does take longer to dry. The equipment used can be more expensive, and that of course relates to higher cleaning cost to the customer. Not necessarily a problem for the consumer, but this method usually requires more training for the technicians. With this method wicking can sometimes be a problem. •Dry Foam Shampoo: It makes sense that using a dry method would reduce any wicking problems that can occur with wet applications. This method is very good with odor control, and in most cases is relatively less expensive. The disadvantage is that the carpet can re-soil quickly, and in some case excessive chemicals are used. With the chemicals involved it’s very important that vacuuming is done thorough upon completion. •Dry Extraction: The big advantage here is no drying time, and again this method tends not to produce any wicking problems. There is not too much training involved with this particular method. However there is usually a chemical odor present and the carpet can re-soil quickly. This method is also very labor intensive and in most cases it is the most expensive. Remember have professionals clean your carpets to keep them looking nice, and help with wear. This will also help with getting the maximum life out of your carpet.
