Staying more productive
Question: I sometimes get that feeling that, my life is going no where, what can I do tp help me be more productive?
Answer: Everyone is looking for balance. Life does not just happen. You have the power to create whatever life you wish. Balance happens when your values and your actions are congruent. Are you living what you value, or are you consumed by the moment? Establishing your top five values, creating a plan based on those values, and taking action on your plan are your life balance keys. First establish your top five values. Values can be ideals such as beauty, wisdom, or freedom or values can be more tangible like work, family, or church service. Spending most of your time on things you value gives you a sense of well- being. When you live in your values you have purpose; essential for fulfillment. Write your values down and place them where you can be reminded of what’s most important every day. Second, create a plan based on those values. Knowing what you value more than something else is critical to your day-to-day performance. Plan your day so that you stay on purpose. For example is sitting in front of the TV, or working 16 hours a day moving you closer to your goal of spending quality time with your family? Unless you know what’s MOST important, you are spending the only life you have on things that simply don’t matter. Is work important yes, is working all your family’s waking hours important, maybe not. How can you structure your time differently so you spend more of it on your values? Make a plan EVERY day so your life is productive. Don’t waste another minute on the unimportant. Third take action. This is important enough to give it more than just lip service. Work on your plan every day. Start with one area and choose one or two actions you can take in that area until you’ve formed a habit. Once you’ve mastered one area move on to the next. Life should be forward motion. Follow through on your plan and your life becomes centered and balanced. Life is constantly changing; adapt your actions in response to your current surroundings. Determining your list of personal values and putting them in writing, committing it to memory by planning daily and living each word each and every day creates balance in life. Balance in life equals happiness and fulfillment. When your life is balanced you can accomplish any goal from weight loss to career change.
