Plan it
Question: How can I achieve my weight goals?
Answer: In order to get to any goal you must have a plan to get there. You must know why you want to achieve the goal and you must have a clear picture of that in your mind. You can’t hit a target you can’t see. Many people set goals and then wander around aimlessly, hoping they achieve their goals. In order to be successful, you must have a plan; action steps toward the goal. Creating a plan that fits you and developing actions steps to get to the goal, will help insure you get where you want to be. First, you must create a plan that fits you, your personality. We are all motivated by different things. Some plans are more intricate than others and some are more intense than others, however, the plan should be designed around your strengths and weaknesses. Note two things: one, you don’t necessarily have to improve on every weakness and two; you must build on every strength you currently have. Make the plan something you can wrap your mind around and something you can and will do. For example, going from no exercise to “I will exercise 1 hour every day at 5 am” may not be realistic if you’ve never exercised and you hate mornings. You most likely will burn out quickly. Start with small steps , exercise 20-30 minutes 3 days a week right after work, for example. You must make your plan realistic so that you stay motivated to continue. Second, take the steps necessary to create your plan. Take time to “see” your future; the accomplishments you’ve achieved, and the person you’ve become. Remember clarity is the key here, see yourself and your life is exactly the way you want it to be. Next write down the 6 main things you see in the person you’ve become a year from now in every aspect of your life, health, relationships, career, family, spiritual life, income, etc. Finally, write down the 6 things you can do on a weekly basis that will contribute to your success. Jim Rohn says the difference between success and failure is so subtle. He defines failure and success this way, “Failure is a few errors in judgment repeated everyday. Success is a few simple disciplines practiced every day. Do you see the distinction? A few disciplines...” Break those weekly things down to the daily activities, discipline; you need to achieve the life you want. Plan time daily to work on your goals. The fact is, when you look at successful people, you will almost always discover a plan behind their success. They know what they want, they work out a plan that will get them where they want to go, and they work their plan. It is the foundation for success. You came equipped with the unique ability to affect change in your life. It is through your own conscious choice when you engage in the miracle process of personal development that you are able to transform your nature and your life.
