Towing after an accident
Question: If I have been in an accident (slip off the road due to ice, hit a deer, or a collision) and my car is not safe to drive. How do I get it towed to the shop if I want to repair it?
Answer: If you are involved in a car accident and your vehicle is not drivable, and in need of a tow truck, who do you call? Well... I recommend that you check on different, local towing companies before you need a service. The reason for this is simple, and may save you from headaches that could have been avoided after an unforeseen accident. If you have a local towing company that you’d prefer, when your vehicle is picked up for towing you can tell the driver what body shop you wish to take your car for repair. If you don’t know of any towing companies, you can always ask your mechanic, body shop, and/or your friends. This will assure that your vehicle is going to be repaired locally, and not taken outside of the Crawford County area. For example: Pittsburg has 6 towing companies. If you don’t tell the police officer who you want to tow your vehicle, they will simply call the next towing company they have on rotation. If you know of a towing company prior to your accident, you can tell the police officer what company you’d prefer to have tow your vehicle. This, in turn, will help you choose exactly what facility will then repair your vehicle. So the answer to your question is simple: If you have both a towing company and an auto body repair facility of your choice before an accident, this will help make an already difficult situation, less stressful than it really needs to be.
