What is the value of massage therapy?
Q: Why or when would I consider getting a massage?
A: Each and every month, to begin with, each person should enjoy the pleasure of touch. Why? Massage can be the first step in preventative health maintenance. It allows you to get acquainted with your body and how it’s functioning. Being blocked means something isn’t working correctly. Massage can change all of that, as it opens pathways. Pathways are natural meridians of the body that allows your body to function normally. Like blood and lymph, pathways travel in specific directions and massage therapy can unlock areas that are stuck or blocked, thus insuring the flow to continue. Additionally, massage therapy can help prevent injury as it lengthens the muscles allowing for full production and movement. In addition to decreasing pain, another benefit is that it lowers your blood pressure which can decrease your risk of other diseases. Here in Pittsburg especially, we live with heavy metals in the air, the water we drink and the local foods we eat. Massage moves all of that along and keeps everything flowing. Massage corrects bigger issues before they become serious. Such as lower back pain, shoulder pain and hip pain. For those of you wanting to get pregnant, it helps with fertility. All stages of pregnancy and after delivery to get you back to the shape you were in or maybe even better. Massage helps the body to straighten bad posture and controls how the body expands. Massage sculptures your current body to look better than you could ever imagine. Next month we will discuss S.A.D. (seasonal affected disorder) and how it can be treated.
