The cushion makes the difference
Q: How important is the cushion (padding) when it comes to new carpet?
A: Very important. As you know, carpet comes in a variety of textures, colors and styles. All of these styles have a different feel to them, to not only the touch, but the feel when walking on them as well. However, carpet is really rather thin without its counterpart the cushion. The cushion or padding underneath the carpet is what makes the carpet plush and will help your carpet last longer. You see, higher quality padding will not only help with comfort, but it can actually block moisture, help combat stains and odors, act as a noise minimizer, and will help boost air continuity between the floor and carpet for superior vacuuming. Which basically means your vacuum will consume the dirt from your carpet more effectively. Most carpet nowadays seldom wears out. Installing the correct padding will help reduce undesirable ugliness due to heavy traffic and accidental spills amongst other carpet mishaps. A way to pick the right padding for you is to place the padding under the desired carpet you wish to invest in and walk on it. Whichever one is the most comfortable to your toes (and your wallet), is the one. Be sure that you ask about the warranty and “extras” such as moisture control, and stain and odor blockers.
