Christmas design trends 2011
Q: We hare hosting a holiday party and I want my home to be perfect and filled with holiday cheer. I am not looking for anything kitschy though as it is a business function. What are the holiday design trends for this year?
A: It is amazing to think that while most of us are just beginning to think of design trends, the design world is already predicting and shaping holiday design trends years ahead! The great thing about that is designers have spent time creating concepts within those trends and can pass along plenty of ideas.
According to Christmasworld, an international event held in Germany that presents the latest designs for the next year, and The Trend Curve, an international authority on home décor design, this year’s design trends include incorporating exotic cultures, 1950’s inspired designs, and simplicity and nature.
Culture Inspired Holiday Design
One of the hottest trends this holiday season is Scandinavian inspired concepts with simple lines, ornaments in red and white or blue and white patterned after the traditional sweater design, and unpainted wood carved animals such as reindeer, bear, and wolves.
1950s Trend
Nostalgia ranks high this year and when you think of design trends, think vintage. Designers presented fabulous concepts incorporating the best of the 1950s including bubble lights, colorful glass balls, angel hair or silver tinsel and aluminum trees lit by color wheels.
Simplicity and Nature
Silver and a lighter shade of green are being paired this year for a “frosted greenery” look that reflects the beauty of nature. Using natural elements, such as floral displays in all white is also a trend adding a sophisticated touch to the season.
However you decide to make your home festive for your party, the main idea is to make it enjoyable for all. Create a comfortable conversational seating plan, serve some tasty food and offer your guests a cocktail to get them in the spirit of the event. Sometimes less is more, so just be selective of your décor and the event will be a sure success!
May your event be beautiful and filled with cheer!
