Refinishing a wood floor?
:  What is the best process for refinishing wood floors so as to get the best results.?
ANSWER:  To begin the project remove all furniture, rugs, etc. from the room.  Then lightly sand the entire area with a fine sandpaper, 220 grit works best.  Sand in the direction with the grain of the wood.  This removes the old wax or finish and provides for a uniform surface.  After sanding is completed, sweep or vacuum up the dust and wipe down the entire area with a cloth dampened with odorless mineral spirits to remove any remaining dust.  Apply a light coat of fast drying polyurethane with a natural bristle brush maintaining a wet edge to avoid lap marks.  Allow this coat to dry 5-6 hours then sand very lightly only removing the sheen from the first coat.  Wipe down floor again to remove dust.  Apply a second coat of polyurethane.  Three coats are best for high traffic areas.  Repeat the above steps between each coat. After you have applied the final coat allow approximately 24 hours before light use and wait 72 hours before replacing furniture.  Wait approximately a week to replace any rugs, etc.  This process will give you a great looking floor that will be durable.  If you want to change the color of your floor or have any questions feel free to  contact Ron.  He will be more than happy to go over the many options with you.
