Dawson Grimsley
Dawson Grimsley is President of the DAVIS-MOORE AUTO GROUP - and the automotive industry is in his blood. So is a genuine concern about safety, and about the community in which he lives and works. Three and a half years ago, the DAVIS-MOORE dealerships embarked on an unconventional advertising campaign promoting safety issues rather than car prices. Not only has the campaign increased business, it has also generated positive response from the public, and a heightened awareness of driving safety in the Wichita community. It has also resulted in a number of local, state and national awards. In Wichita, DAVIS-MOORE owns 7 new car franchises (Chevrolet, Dodge, Oldsmobile, Jeep, Lincoln/Mercury, Nissan & Mazda), and 7 used car dealerships. Dawson Grimsley may be contacted by phoning DAVIS-MOORE at (316) 618-2000.

Buying new or pre-owned?
Question: We are in the market for a different car. The new ones seem so high when we look at some pre-owned ones, however the mileage scares us. It seems like cars are built today to run longer without problems than they used to be. Is there any kind of consumer information regarding what mileage things begin to happen?
Answer:  It¹s a fact that cars are made better today than they were in the past, and manufacturer¹s warranty claims have decreased, across the board. However, there is no information available regarding an 'average' mileage at which problems start to occur, because so much depends on the vehicle, and how it is maintained. In my opinion, there are 2 extremely important things you can do when buying a used vehicle. 1) Have it checked out thoroughly before making the purchase. 2) Purchase an extended warranty to protect yourself against surprises. The reliability of a used car will depend on the car itself, as well as the care and upkeep it was given by the previous owner(s). If at all possible, try to talk with the previous owner, and ask what kind of service the vehicle received while they owned it.
