Can massage therapy prevent surgery? - series - part 2
Q: Could a massage save me from having surgery?
A: Last month, we spoke about how massage unlocks blocked passageways and how that is an advantage in preventing the need for surgery. This month, we will address joint issues and how they relate.
Joints are both the most over and under used parts of the body. Massage’s design is to loosen those places and restore flexibility and have better movement. Our body changes every two years to accommodate what our bodies need. So lets look at an example: A man, 71, complains of shoulder pain, he already had one shoulder surgery and now wants another. It’s only been four years since his last surgery. Problem is that the shoulder is too weak to support the current surgery and everything is loose. After working out and getting regular massages, everything has tightened up thus giving him better R.O.M.(range of motion) unfortunately for him, he waited too long for treatment and needs another surgery. But the massage has helped his body’s overall performance.
Massage is useful in preventing surgery in some cases as well as delaying the need. It is also useful in supportive health prior to surgery.
