What is chelation therapy?
: What is Chelation or Chelation Therapy? Who would benefit from it? Is it accepted by most doctors?
ANSWER: Many people have heard friends' stories about it, but don't know what it is. Scientifically, chelation is the non-surgical treatment that improves metabolic and circulatory function by rebalancing and removing metal ions in the body using EDTA, a synthetic amino acid in an intravenous solution. Who would be a candidate for chelation therapy? Some people choose chelation as an anti-aging strategy to prevent problems. They believe that aggressive prevention is far better than the best intervention. Others use chelation as a therapeutic option for free radical diseases including diabetes, arthritis, atherosclerosis, and metal toxicity. And finally, some people do chelation as a treatment of last resort. They are too ill to risk angioplasty or bypass surgery. Chelation might help some prevent amputations due to diabetes. Here are some examples: One individual had had multiple angioplasties and stents plus coronary bypass surgery and had "no circulation" in his leg. He had significant pain relief during the first chelation.Another individual requested hydrogen peroxide as part of his chelation therapy. He was free of angina after his fifth treatment. Another individual was angina free after his first treatment. Is this accepted by the majority of doctors? No! That is why people must educate themselves, and then decide what is the best course for them. Must reading includes: Bypassing Bypass Surgery, by Elmer Cranton, M.D. and Hydrogen Peroxide, Medical Miracle, by William Douglass, M.D. The following are a couple of quotes from one of the best books on the subject... ‘Bypassing Bypass Surgery’: "As a practicing cardiovascular surgeon, I and many of my associates have patients who are not surgical candidates. Those of us in academic medicine and surgery should put aside our blinders, open our minds and delve further into any promise of improvement for those unfortunates who have no other hope. Everyone interested in the betterment of life should read Dr Cranton's book." Signed... Ralph Lev, M.D., Vascular Surgeon. "Bypassing Bypass Surgery is a book that will help patients to take responsibility for their own health, and it must be considered required reading for every serious student of preventive medicine, physician and patient alike." Signed... H. Richard Casdorph, M.D., Professor of Medicine, UC Irvine.
