What is Zumba?
Q: I am considering taking some fitness classes. I’ve been hearing a lot about Zumba and it sounds fun from what I have heard. Can you tell me more about it and for what ages and skill levels would it be best suited?
A: Zumba is one of the easiest and most dynamic ways to get fit. Better still, it is fun. It is a fusion of Latin and International easy-to-follow dance rhythms and music that create a dynamic, exciting effective fitness system. Routines feature fast and slow dance rhythms with a combination of body-sculpting movements that tone and sculpt the entire body.
Zumba is one of the few fitness programs embraced by all ages, as well as all skill and coordination levels, men and women alike. You will find people of every age, shape, size and fitness level in Zumba class. There is also no need to worry about coordination or feeling left behind trying to master tricky moves. No dance experience or coordination necessary – just a willingness to get up, move, and have an enjoyable workout.
One of the best things about Zumba is that you will experience an exhilarating workout –endorphins included -without the pounding and jarring movements that put undue stress on the body. Even people who thought they couldn’t exercise due to injury or illness can do Zumba without worry about being reinjured.
