Farm tires-10 ply mud over all terrains
Q- What is good for high wear and tear and durability tire for life on the farm? What are the considerations?
A- As you noted in your question, your biggest considerations in choosing tires are durability and traction. For farm use, where tires will see both on and off-road use, mud terrain tires are the most useful. These tires have the tread designs and void ratios that meet the high demands of farm use, while still being acceptable for highway use. I would consider the heavier 10-ply tires, as they are best for agricultural applications and use. 10 plies are really tough to puncture, which is what you're looking for when driving miles on gravel, and over difficult and sometimes unreliable terrain. One of the issues some have with mud tires is the noise when driving on the street or highway. Many of these tires come with noise refinement technology to help minimize that problem. If you are in the market for high durability tires, look for ones with extra sidewall and tread reinforcement plies.
