How can I decorate my dorm affordably?
Q- I was wondering if you had any ideas for decorating a dorm room affordably. I really like things that are fun and unique and love color.
A- I understand that decorating a dorm room can be difficult. The small space and limited budget can dampen your inner interior designer spirit if you let it! The good thing is though; it does not have to quench your style or your design enthusiasm. Fortunately, you have very affordable options to add color and excitement to your space. First, consider adding that outrageous accent piece to your decor. While you cannot go crazy with an entire room if you share the space, a bold and colorful accent piece can add so much and really make you feel at home. Consider some wild furniture, crazy bright colors and even some with additional designs like zebra, lace, sports themes. Since you must have functional pieces as well, why not consider some colorful and crazy fun bookshelves to house all of your study materials? Fun designs make going back to school bearable I think. While making your own 'decor statement' consider incorporating some school themed items to add even more fun, show your school pride, and bump up that enthusiasm. When you choose a few statement pieces, you can save money on a complete room makeover and spend money in other worthy areas. Remember, while eating Top Ramen is a college rite of passage, it is still nice to afford some coffee or a real meal now and then. Best wishes as you hit the books!
