Helping a football injury
Q- My son injured his shoulder a couple of weeks ago playing football. It’s mainly just sore, no tear and no surgery required. What can help minimize his pain while he recovers?
A- Injured shoulder or sore shoulder, they should be treated with ice when the shoulder is warm/hot and swollen. If it’s sore and cool to touch, apply heat in and around the area. A topical balm in and around the rotator box can be used. To speed up healing, it’s good to soak in a tub of ice water daily till the pain goes away. Submerge and rest & relax and of course, massage can help.
When the shoulder is left unattended, this can cause scar tissue, which then massage can benefit you too. Massage benefits you before, during and after a workout, especially if it’s something new that your body is trying. Injuries are an example of not preparing your muscles and the strength of the ligaments.
