Getting rid of "back fat"
Q- I want to look good for holiday parties and celebrations, but my “back fat” shows and my clothes just don't look nice. I don't have time to lose weight before the holidays. What can I do??
A- One of the ways to look better in your clothes is to start with the proper-fitted undergarments. In most cases, “back fat” is breast tissue that has moved because of ill-fitting bras. When breast tissue is not supported properly, it will move under the arms and around to the back. It can be “trained” to move back where it belongs but it takes a properly fitted, supportive bra to do so. Another reason for “back fat” is from wearing the popular “molded cup” foam-type bra. It shuts off air circulation to the breast tissue and causes the tissue to move where it can breathe. An ill-fitted bra may also cause it to ride up in the back and allow the breasts to drop down in front, which causes discomfort. All a woman really needs is a bra that is properly fitted. A custom-fit bra assures comfortable support and relieves pressure off of sore shoulders. By encompassing and supporting the entire breast, it eliminates shoulder pain and tightness. Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to find an off-the-shelf bra that fits just right. That’s why it’s imperative to be professionally fitted by a certified fitter. In addition to increasing comfort and improving appearance, the proper fit is important to overall breast care, something most women neglect to consider on a daily basis. An ill-fitting bra does not provide adequate support, which prevents proper circulation within the breast tissue. In severe cases, poor-fitting bras can cause breast tissue to separate into glandular masses. The right bra – if properly fitted – offers the long-term benefits of protecting the tissue so that breasts do not become pendulous. And, if that’s not reason enough, wearing a properly-fitted bra will make your clothes fit better and make you look thinner and shapelier! We tend to spend a lot on the outer garments and the undergarments are an after-thought. There's a reason they are called “foundations”. No matter what type of shape you have, when you start with the proper foundations, you can build your wardrobe to look your best.
