What is a creative way to announce an engagement?
Q-My boyfriend and I were engaged this weekend but we have not told anyone yet. We want to announce it in a creative way, and have that be the theme, from beginning to end. Do you have any ideas?
A-I know exactly what you mean. I have been enjoying seeing all the new wedding trends and the fun ways people are using to bring others into the experience. One of the newest trends, and I happen to think one of the most fun, is blending the elements of business marketing with traditional wedding practices. Technology has advanced to such a degree that couples now use cool things like t-shirts and magnets to announce engagements, ask friends to save the date, or as invitations themselves! The best thing about this is that you can work with a local designer to come up with a cool design that can then be translated into amazing keepsakes that keep the guests pumped up. For example, you could come up with a design that represents how you met, a shared interest, or even a traditional wedding design such as bells or flowers and then make that your "theme" (where in a business it would be a brand). Then you use that in creating silkscreened shirts for the bridal party or guests, in save the date magnets, and in invitations. In your case, you could design a t-shirt that can make the announcement in a series of clues or in some other fun way and carry the fun throughout your celebration. I have even seen people design something that looks like a cool retro shirt and it is only when you really take a good look that you realize that it is not what you think. So, my suggestion is to let your imagination soar and get with a designer. I am certain that you will come up with something spectacular.
