Decorating for a daughter
:   Do you have any ideas on creating a really fun room for a child (daughter) something that will not have to be redone several times?
ANSWER:  For starters, think about favorite colors.  Consider natural light first.  Warm up north-facing rooms with sunny bright colors, and cool down south-facing and west-facing spaces with soft blues and greens or purples.  Consider washable wall coverings or painted walls with removable decorations, as likes and dislikes will happen often at this age.  Pick classic prints, stripes or checks for curtains, then go crazy with fun, easy to change prints for spreads, pillows, etc.A simple mural of grass, hills and flowers, with well placed trees and a few birds and butterflies, is a fun way to light the light in the eyes of the beholder and provide years of enjoyment.  Be sure to consult your child about his or her thoughts on this artistic endeavor before beginning.  There are plenty of stencils available to help with this job or you can hire a professional. If you select gloss or semi gloss paint for the walls you won't cringe when your little darling tacks up posters.  (you know they will)  Big floor pillows in bright colors are fun seating for the younger set.  Two or three bookcases in a natural finish or painted, are great storage for dolls, books, C. D.s, videos and collectibles.  A corner can provide the perfect place for a deep triangular desk that holds a computer, papers, books, etc.  At the top of this corner you may want to paint a big colorful bow with flowing ties held by doves, a restful distraction when needed.  " Inspiration cannot be willed, although it can be wooed." (Anthony Storr)See your child's room with fresh eyes and a sensitive heart and make it reflect the personality of the life that occupies this room.
