The right health club
Question:  I've finally decided to get fit... or at least more fit than I am.  I'm looking for a health/fitness club, but I don't want to have to deal with a whole lot of people who look a lot better than I, nor do I want to be yelled at if I don't feel like killing myself.  Do you have any tips on what to look for and what questions to ask when I begin my search to find what I want?
Answer:  The choice of a health club for your needs may be very intimidating.   However, there are some things that will assist you in your search for a health club you feel "at home" in.If you are new to exercise search for an established, comprehensive, medically prudent, health and wellness club that will relate to your specific needs.  Consider the following factors in your search:Professional Staff - Knowledgeable fitness specialists/trainers with college degrees and respected certifications.Professional Programs - A variety of Land, Water, Cardiac, Pulmonary, and Wellness with Cancer and Fall Avoidance classes. Optional Services - Cholesterol Screening, Flu Shots, Health Fairs, Body fat analysis, and personal fitness assessments available on site.Location - For adherence in your new exercise lifestyle choose a club that is conveniently located.Security - Not only a safe environment by convenient, safe parking is available.Contracts - Choose a facility with no contract or initiation fee.  This will allow you to get to know the facility and employees without being locked into a long-term contract.Guest fee - Is there a guest fee offered at a reasonable rate?If you find a facility that has these features consider the cleanliness of the facility, and if towel service and amenities are offered.  If you have children visit their day care facility at the time you will be exercising.  Seek a club whose employees care about your success.     An excellent indicator of atmosphere in a fitness center is the length of employment of the staff.  A happy well-educated employee will make the extra effort to make you comfortable in you new fitness home.
