Do you remember?
: Tell me about Mack Sanders.
ANSWER: It's 4 O'clock in the afternoon, (1954) only one television station on the air (Channel 12).  A tri-pacer airplane takes off, reaches it's destination and Kansas Mack steps out.  He had arrived for another Kansas Mack Show.  Mack Sanders introduced the western movies for many years and hosted The Ranch Boys Band Show (his country band) which by the way played for radio remotes and had their own radio show daily on KFBI.  These were the days when radio stations had their own bands, KFH/The Ark Valley Boys, KANS/Corkys Coral Gang...great entertainment!  Mack Sanders was a personality in country music here in Wichita, he started KSIR and then purchased KFRM, started KICT and then went on to purchase many radio stations in the U.S.  Back in the 50's he owned the restaurant and sports center then located on E Harry.  His days consisted of his own radio show at 5am, a television show in the afternoon, and he played dances all over the Midwest at night.  He was also a recording artist along with his band.  Mack brought nearly all of the country artists to Wichita along with booking agent Hap Peebles.  He knew personally all of the "then popular" country stars, and when they were here in Wichita a visit with Mack was a MUST!  Mack Sanders was still doing a 5am Disc Jockey show on his radio station in Hot Springs until his death on October 11th.  His name and his imprint will always remain on Wichita and Kansas.  I had the privilege of directing and producing his TV shows, and also was honored to office side-by-side with him in management and part owner of the Proud Country Radio Stations.
