Ever heard of a “Dumb Supper”?
ANSWER: For many people, Halloween in one of the most fun holidays of the year, and the Internet is chalk full of fun party ideas. One suggestion draws from an ancient tradition of the Celtic people of Ireland. Believe it or not, it's called a "Dumb Supper!" Many similar traditions exist in other cultures and religions around the world, and many still practice the tradition today. There are two versions of the "Dumb Supper." Some practiced it in order to invite relatives and loved ones who have passed to have dinner with them, while others say young women practiced the tradition in order to make the apparition of their future husband appear at the dinner table. Although most people would not want to participate in either version of the supper, here's a way to make it fun and lighthearted rather than downright creepy:• Traditionally, all the place settings are backwards (knives, forks, spoons in reverse order)• Cooks and guests walk backwards while preparing the meal and setting the table.  If you choose to practice this part of the dinner, please be careful!• According to tradition, the meal was eaten in complete silence, but this may not be very fun at a dinner party. Now for the best part:  • Dinner is served backwards as well!  This means you start with desert and end with a salad or appetizer.  Who wouldn't want to start off with desert? Here are some fun Halloween recipes from cooksrecipes.com that will make your own "Dumb Supper" a party to remember:Snack - "Critter Munch"• 1-1/2 cups animal cracker cookies• 6-ounce package any flavor goldfish-shaped crackers• 1 cup dried tart cherries• 1 cup plain candy-coated chocolate pieces• 1 cup honey roasted peanutsCombine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
