Got an update on Joyland?
ANSWER: Yes. This date was specifically selected by the new owners so that families can enjoy the tradition of the Joyland Easter Egg Hunt once again.  Upon arrival on April 16, guests will see extensive improvements being made.  It is very important to the new owners that Joyland offers the highest quality and level of family fun for people of all ages.  Therefore, the opening of the midway and rides will only take place if specific repairs and improvements have been completed.  Over the next few months, many major and minor improvements will be made – making the park more exciting and dynamic than ever before.  As with all things good – it will be worth the wait.QUESTION: Can you clarify the issue of apartments that continues to be discussed?  I am confused about how and if apartments play a role in the future of the park.ANSWER: The new owners are dedicated to making Joyland a complete success.  As new members of the Wichita community, their commitment to providing a fun, safe, and family-centric park is their number one priority.  It was never a question of “apartments or opening Joyland” when the purchase was made.  The concept of apartments was only discussed if the community decides they do not want Joyland as a part of Wichita family entertainment.  The decision for Joyland’s future is truly one for the citizens to make and communicate through their attendance and support.  If the community embraces Joyland, there is no question of whether or not it stays.QUESTION: Are the new owners that purchased Joyland “short-term” in the sense that they will come and go quickly, or do they have long-term plans for Joyland’s?ANSWER: One of the owners is in the process of purchasing a home adjacent to the park.  It is very important to him and his wife to become an active member of the community and completely accessible to the park and its visitors.  This is not a large company that purchased a park and will watch it from afar.  These are good people with a passion for making Joyland succeed and will be a vital part of its daily operations.  Whether making reservations for group and corporate parties or serving food in the concession area, these owners are not spectators – they are active participants who look forward to meeting Joyland’s visitors daily. As for the long-term plans, there are many and they are exciting.  The owners plan to build a water park within the grounds.  The water park will include a wave pool that is one of the largest in the country and includes a surfing area.  In addition, multiple concerts and events that include industry-leading recording artists are now being scheduled.   There are special things to come at this legendary park and they are adding more to the list daily.
