John Niedens
John Niedens is part owner and one of the systems operators of Texturite, LLC. John has no problem expressing who he believes his favorite teacher to be. It is Marvin, his father. John began at the very young age of 14 in the construction and remodeling business as a framer, pursuing a maintenance and remodeling business of his own when he started high school at Kapaun Mount Carmel. John has had experience in everything from kitchen design to all facets of construction and remodeling. Since his tenure with Texturite, John has created Sahara, Texturite's most popular wall finish. Incorporating neutral colors with texture and sand, Sahara can hide old wallpaper, and turn it into an eye-popping work of art. To find out more about Sahara and all of the Texturite processes, visit www.texturite.com. To contact John, call (316) 210-7800.

The basics of hanging wallpaper in your home
ANSWER: In addition to other textures applied to walls, wallpaper can be a key factor in a room, if done properly. After selecting your wallpaper at the local store, making sure it is the right pick for your home, completely read the manufacturers instructions. Save any labels or packaging just in case you need to buy more wallpaper.Lining the wallpaper up properly can be the deciding factor in whether or not the job will look right. It is imperative that the paper is pasted on straight. If your first strip of wallpaper is crooked, the whole job will end up wrong. I recommend that you mark the wall where your strips will hang. This prevents any mistakes from happening later. If the wallpaper that you have is unpasted, place the paper pattern-side down. Using a roller, coat the paper with the manufacturer-recommended paste. If your paper is prepasted, follow the manufacturers instructions. To hang your paper properly, unbook the top of your wallpaper strip and line it up with your mark at the top of the wall. Using a brush or another sliding tool, lightly push the strip against the wall. Keeping your hands wet, slowly unbook the bottom half of the paper, and smooth into place. If you see air bubbles, or the sheet is crooked, carefully pull the sheet back, and replace correctly. Wash off excess paste with a sponge. Repeat the process.
