Successful weight loss keys
Answer: One of the most important keys is motivation. When a person is really motivated he or she will be more successful. Losing weight is a decision a person makes based on their health and goals they have set. Maybe you are tired of shopping in the plus size section, or keeping a larger size of clothing just in case you need a bigger size. Spring and summer are right around the corner and we will all be wearing capris and shorts of some type. Maybe you have a trip coming up or some exciting event that you will need a fancy outfit or dress for. All of these things are short term goals; part of losing your weight and keeping it off are the long-term goals. When a person is motivated the short term and long term goals are attainable. The first thing is to identify why you want to lose weight; that is called your powerful why. The second is to decide what type of program best fits you. A recent survey in Ladies Home Journal showed that programs that taught people how to eat regular grocery store food instead of pre-packaged foods were more successful by about 90%. Another aspect is the cost of some of these programs. When a program begins to be too costly you will quit and gain some or all of your weight back because you have not learned how to eat properly; all you have learned is how to heat up food. Another important thing to consider is the length of time it will take you to reach your goal weight. You do not want to lose too fast; you tend to have a harder time maintaining. Try to find a program that fits your lifestyle and schedule. When you finally decide on your weight loss program start with your short-term goals first and then add in your long-term goals later. Another way of reaching your goal weight may be to break it down into smaller goals say 15 or 20 pound goals instead of looking at the whole amount. Rewards are a great idea and can be anything from a new smaller pair of jeans or a purse you have had your eye on. Make sure you do not reward yourself with food. Setting that ultimate goal and reaching it will not only be rewarding but also improve your quality of life and those around you. The fourth step is to always be accountable and own up to what your are or aren’t doing to maintain your weight loss. The last and most important step is to keep trying. Just because you have failed at losing weight before doesn’t mean you will this time. It does not matter how many times you start as long as you eventually finish.
