Don’t use mouthwash
Brad Lechner Question:  I now have brown patches all over the lawn from what I believe is fungus. I have been putting down diazanion fairly regularly for the bugs and such.  What can I use for the fungus?  Someone told me to use mouthwash.  Do you have any ideas?Answer:  NO MOUTHWASH!!!!!!!!!  You must spray a fungicide like Daconil Ultrex. It's pretty expensive but it is a great chemical. Unfortunately for you, the damage is done. It is likely that the grass will grow back eventually. What you probably have infecting your lawn is a fungus referred to as "brown patch". If the disease does not stop spreading, then you must spray for it. Don't worry too much about spraying fungicide and your health.Humans are not really related to fungi and the method of action from chemicals against the fungi won't hurt you (too badly). But still, keep the kids of from the turf for at least a day. Don't spray when rain is threatening. The chemical must be allowed at least 24 hours to enter the plants. The best idea is to have someone with a pesticide applicators license do this for you. I hope this helps you.
