Swimsuits for all types
Answer: Last month we talked about choosing that perfect swimsuit, but I wanted to expand on that, and talk about different body types, and how they affect the look of a swimsuit. First determine what body type you are, this will help you decide the style of suit in which you will look your best. Strapless, mio, halter, surplice style are usually the most popular. Boy leg and skirts are also available. Prints or solid colors are your own personal preference The type of leg is very important; the shorter your leg is the higher cut the leg should be of the suit. To have a thinner & longer leg look be sure to wear a high cut leg. Boy leg or skirted suits are not advisable for anyone who is hippie or has thick thighs. The surplice suit usually gives you a longer slimmer body image. Most come with a moderate to high cut leg. A moderate back is a good suit for swimming and exercising; an example would be a T-back which will stay on your shoulders, and is a very comfortable suit. Some ladies have an extra long body, if this is the case a 2pc. Tankini or a blouson type suit would be a better choice. Of course there are some of us that will need to pay special attention to tummy control and bust support. Remember many designers offer suits with full tummy control, built in shelf bras, as well as under-wire shelf bras. Another thing to consider is to choose a suit with at least 15 percent spandex to minimize flabby areas. If you have wide hips, opt for styles that cut across the hips rather than hanging below them. You can enhance a small chest with a lightly padded halter top or a demi cut with an underwire; the demi cut resembles a bra, but it’s not a full cup. Also look for suits that offer texture, like ruffles or smocking, and material with small prints; these are guaranteed to deflect attention from your bust. You may also want to minimize a full chest with a dark, monochromatic bodice that has a high or square-cut neck. Make sure the suit offers your bust ample support to resist drooping or sagging, and choose a wider-cut bottom to balance your overall look.
