Tips on care for new carpet
Answer: A carpet in every home; this is the ultimate vision of almost every carpet manufacturer and retailer across America, Canada, as well as in most parts of the world. Translating this vision into its monetary counterpart, the result is obvious. But most carpet manufacturers are not "moved" by the prospect of raking in more money - as a true believer of their product, every carpet manufacturer believes that every family deserves the comfort and warmth of home, which carpets can help provide. Ironically, carpet cleaning has proven to be a toll, rather than just a chore. Most housewives complain of not having enough time to vacuum dust and shampoo their carpets; coffee spills, heel marks, and customary food drips can leave traces on the carpet, permanently. As the normal task of carpet cleaning is laborious, getting rid of stains is "thorny". My experience with carpets has never been easy, but housekeeping taught me to persevere under stress, lest I end up looking like the typical tattered and worn homemaker. Keeping house can be a lackluster "career" if you separate it from your other roles, that of "homemaker," "father," "mother" and "wife", but taken as one, housekeeping, despite of its humdrum and backbreaking demands, gets to be inspiring, too. So does carpet cleaning. Without a big budget, but with a soiled and dirty carpet, here are six basic rules to observe for good carpet care, including remedies I have discovered, from my kitchen, as well as from other kitchens. •Have a regular schedule for vacuuming your carpet. Vacuuming, actually, provides a "short-cut" to the more laborious task of cleaning the carpet. If you vacuum regularly, your carpet cleaning schedule need not be too often •Provide an entry mat to your home or to any area before the carpet. This will collect the dirt and grime off your shoes. Dirt and grime are abrasive to the carpet. •Allowing food spills, or any kind of stain to set longer on the carpet makes it more difficult to get rid of. Remove the stain as soon as possible. •Before trying any homemade or over-the-counter stain removal product, pretest it on an inconspicuous area of the carpet. This will ensure that any effect the solution has on the fiber or dye of the carpet will be confined in an area that will not distract attention. •Prevent spreading stains by excessive scrubbing. Work from the outside edge of the stain towards the stained spot.
