Tips to cutting costs on your grocery bill
Answer: Absolutely! All you need is a little strategy. First, find a meal plan that includes less expensive ingredients. While it may not be what you are used to, you will find there are many enjoyable foods that are also affordable. Base your meals around weekly store ads and your coupons. Weekly specials provide savings on items on nearly every isle and with some creativity, you can create family pleasing meals on a dime. For example, if you are in the mood for steak but want to keep the spending conservative, buy a cut like porterhouse on sale along with some fresh vegetables also featured as specials that week. Sauté the meat and vegetables for a satisfying meal. Here are several more tips to keep in mind: Choose meals that can be stretched with rice or pasta or ones that omit meat. Choose in season or frozen vegetables. Invest in meats that can be used for more than one meal. Make things from scratch rather than using ready-made mixes. It takes more time, but the result is superb. Choose store brand over name brand. If you use a lot of milk, consider mixing milk which you by the half-gallon or gallon with dry milk. You retain the taste while cutting the cost considerable. Choose frozen juices over premade. Stock up on essentials, such as toothpaste, when they are on sale and use coupons. Save where you can by getting back to basics. Many things we consider part of every day life are actually conveniences. Lastly, take an inventory of how you have been using products in your household and where waste can be eliminated. Together, these small changes can save a significant amount off your grocery bill while satisfying you. More next month...
