Requirements for heaven’s entry
Answer: There are many similarities between the understanding of God between Muslims, Christians and Jews. In particular, all three claim Abraham as a forefather in the faith and all intend to worship the same God. In each of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism God’s steadfast love and mercy goes before God’s wrath and judgment. God wants us all to be united and enter heaven, but it all depends on the person’s response to God. It is in the individual’s response to God that the requirements differ. In Christianity, the requirements to enter heaven are based upon on accepting Jesus as the Lord of your life as the only way into Heaven. Committing your life to follow Christ and his teachings and examples are what make you a Christian. All who profess faith in Christ as their Lord and Savior, repent of their sins, and welcome Jesus into their life receive God’s free gift of grace and the promise of God that they will be united for eternity in Heaven. Muslims, like people of many faiths, believe in an afterlife and whoever has worshipped Allah will be qualified to enter heaven. Everyone has the same potential to get into Heaven and on the Day of Judgment if your good works outweigh your bad works you’ll go to heaven. Judaism does not recognize Jesus as the Christ, or Messiah, the One God sent to usher in the dawning of a new age called the Kingdom of God and as the way to Heaven. Jews believe Jesus was a great teacher and perhaps even a prophet, but not the way to life united in Heaven with God. They do not see that giving your life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ is the requirement to enter Heaven, instead they await the one they see as the true Messiah as the one who will establish God’s reign here on earth.
