Wedding planning - series part 2
Answer: Last month, we talked a lot about the shortcuts and tips on the basics of wedding planning. Now lets get more in depth about my favorite part of the wedding… the cake! These days, the options are endless not only in flavor, but in design, color and style. Early on in your planning, you will need to decide how many guests are going to be a part of your special day. Of course, as you continue the process, this number may rise or fall, but a general number is going to be very important in deciding on a size for your cake. You may have always dreamed of a towering seven tiered wedding cake rivaled only by Princess Katherine herself, but if you are only inviting 100 people to your gala event, this is probably not feasible. When you have a comfortable number of servings, you can avoid over-ordering and paying for more cake then you really need. The next big decision is wedding colors. You may have already picked these in relationship to your bridesmaid’s dresses and flowers. If so, great, you are one step farther along! Next to consider, is the style of décor you will have at the reception. This is a big one so your cake decorations will blend right along with the room. Trust me, it is much easier to match up the cake to the room than the other way around! Decisions on table cloth colors, centerpieces and favors will impact everything from the amount of color you may want on the cake to what type of flowers will or will not be part of the design. Next month, we will talk about what is considered the most “fun” part…the flavors and icings!
