Tinted plate glass table tops
A: A really smart fella once said “It doesn’t cost any more to have the best…you just pay for it a little longer!” The investment in glass that is designed to protect the investment in wooden tables is actually not expensive at all. And glass table tops are really in vogue today. They add a touch of class to any table you put them on. Everything from the swankiest dining room tables, to the most plane Jane outdoor patio table, and every kind of table in between are getting those outstanding glass tops. A lot of folks put glass on their end tables to protect them from the lamps, and on the coffee tables and night stands too. And the look is fabulous on the large Hickory, Maple, or Walnut desks so prevalent today in offices. You will likely love the look I’m talking about! There are a myriad of table top designs and a lot of different considerations that would help answer your question of whether something like that is expensive or affordable. But for the protection of the woods that you’ve already paid a lot of money for, we believe the decision of putting glass tops on your tables is a pretty good one. The size and thickness of the glass would be relevant to the cost, as well as the configuration, and whether the glass was colored, tinted, clear, or any of a number of other variables. A lot of folks years ago had their tables fitted with a custom glass top so that the wooden table would be protected from the abuse a table can receive just from normal family use. That has progressed to where today, there are so many examples of what a beautiful and well designed glass table top does for the ambience in the room, that a lot of folks no longer want just the original rich luxurious look of a wooden table, without the protection and beautiful look that a well designed glass top provides. Glass brings with it another advantage, that of extremely low maintenance. It can be cleaned with most any glass cleaner to make the surface sterile and spotlessly clean, unlike a wooden table top, which can harbor bacteria in the smallest crevices. Glass protects from the inevitable spills, enhances any type of décor you might have, making it a good long term investment. Glass table tops can also make the spaces appear larger, and as such, are well suited for small rooms too. You might even want to consider scratch resistant glass tops that have the ability to look brand new for years to come. The glass is available in various attractive colors like green, black, amber, and others. Tints from very light to very dark and anything in between are also possible. Shapes like round, square, rectangular, oval and custom cut glass to fit your special table are also available. The edges can be polished to a number of different finishes, such as ogee, pencil, bevel, and others. There isn’t a bad looking finish among them. Tempered glass tops are usually more durable and tensile and reduce the chances of glass breakage and related injuries, making them a safe bet around small children. It is mostly used for table tops, window panes and door panels. It’s heat resistant too, and can be used safely for serving hot dishes directly to your table tops, kitchen tables and so forth. To sum up, a beautiful glass table top can bring a luxurious look to your kitchen or dining room table, and protection to those ancillary tables you have all around your home. If you want the tables to still look as good 20 years down the road as they did the day you brought them home, cover them with beautiful glass tops. The designs and colors have never been better than they are right now. More good info for you next month…
