Do we need a checklist?
Jeff Chester Question:  We recently had a fire that damaged lots of furniture (a lot of it was sentimental) and the carpet in our home.  Structurally we should be okay but we felt we could have saved lots of the furniture were we to have known what to do at the right time.  Is there such a thing as a checklist to follow after a fire or flood?Answer:  The question of whether or not a checklist exists for fire damaged items is one that needs to be looked at from two perspectives. From the insurance company's point of view, if an item cost more to clean and restore than it would to replace, the insurance company would most likely pay to replace it. From the view of the homeowner many of the items in a home are not easily replaced because of sentimental value. In that case a professional restoration company can be most helpful in restoring each treasured belonging back to life.
