Diet fads that are bad for your health
A- What is a Diet Fad? The definition is very subjective. Some dieticians would have you believe that all Diet Fads are any diets that promise miraculous results and are generally unhealthy. This is not necessarily true. A Diet Fad is simply a weight loss plan or diet that becomes very popular very fast and may just as quickly fall out of favor. Just because it is a fad doesn't necessarily mean it’s a failure or unhealthy. However, any diet that preaches that you will lose more than two pounds per week or that you eat one kind or a particular food can be unhealthy and dangerous. The following are some of the diet fads you should absolutely watch out for. They may take the weight off temporarily but they don't do it in a healthy way and the result is usually you gain all your weight back plus more. Some are so outlandish and dangerous you would never ever want to try them. If it sounds too good to be true it usually is. QUICK FIX DIETS: 1 The Cabbage Soup Diet 2. The Grapefruit Diet 3. Cookie Diet/Twinkie Diet 4. The Soup Diet 5. The Apple Cidar Vinegar Diet 6. Baby food Diet 7. Bacon Diet All of the diets preach eating one thing non stop for days till you lose the required weight. They also preach you will lose up to 10 lbs per week. THATS THE FIRST SIGN OF...”THIS DOESN’T WORK LONG TERM!!” They leave out, “WARNING THIS COULD BE POTENTIALLY HARMFUL TO YOUR HEALTH!!!” Let's face it..you didn't put on the weight overnight so you can’t expect to take it off overnight. First of all, each and every one of these Quick Fixes doesn’t contain all the nutrients you need on a daily basis. Sure you will lose weight, but you will also lose cognitive function, suffer dehydration as well as nutrient deficiency and muscle loss. Each of these can cause gall stones as well. Then the end result is when you eat again, you put on the weight even faster. These Fads teach neither how to eat properly nor effectively. They don't teach you how to eat real food and enjoy it. They are absolutely no good for the long term for healthy weight loss. You want to be HEALTHY!! This requires nutrients from all groups of just the right type. Next month we will cover more types of fad diets. You'll want to stay tuned as you will be amazed at the gimmicks that are out there to get the money from those concerned about their weight!
