Get fit TRYathlon & get fit 5k/10k

A-Big Brothers Big Sisters of Crawford County is a mentoring agency that pairs an adult with a child. We currently have 35 kids on the waiting list. Most kids come from low income single family homes. The Get Fit TRYathlon & Get Fit 5K/10k benefits BBBS. Health & Wellness is a mindset and a way of living. Some people think it is about being physically fit and looking your best. Others believe it is all about your mental wellbeing. There are very few kids’ activities in our area that are not geared towards them being on a team. Realistically, not all kids are able to play a sport or be on a team. Therefore they are missing out on a critical time of getting some physical activity for their health. According to the US Dept. of Health and Human Services, Americans should get a minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity a day and 60 min for kids to maintain their health. 20% of us actually get that. This time of year is great for being outside running, riding bikes and soon swimming. Kids enjoy being outside and doing these things. The Get Fit TRYathlon started in 2010 as a way to get kids back outside and to TRY something new by combining the things they are already doing. It is about having fun and showing them that getting some physical activity doesn’t have to be difficult. It is proven that when kids are physically active they are happier and more productive. We have added the 15 and over 5K/10K to encourage the community to join the kids in increasing their physical activity. This event stands out from any other event due to all events being chip timed and the community feeling you get just being present. Please join us on June 2nd.
