Answer:  Your situation is not an easy one as you know. You obviously want the best possible recuperation time for your mother so that she will mend properly without further complications. There are a few options for you to look at:1.  Contact your long term care salesperson, and explain the situation to him or her. Long term care insurance representatives are specially trained in this area and may have suggestions as to how you can get your mother certification for continuous care in home. Keeping her at home is of course always the first choice. He or she may refer you to another physician who will certify her.2. Your mother may qualify for skilled nursing care through a home health agency. These services may be covered by her Medicare benefits. There are many reputable home health agencies in and around Wichita and it costs nothing to call a few of them and see if they will assess your mothers situation.3. There are services available through SRS that will pay for in home care.  There are financial restrictions but if your mother does not have the resources to hire outside care and she does not qualify for skilled nursing care through her Medicare policy it would be a good idea to call SRS at 316-337-6000 and talk to a case worker about the possibility of your mother qualifying for HCBS services.4. Finally, if your mother does qualify for Medicaid, she might also want to look into the possibility of a short term stay in a nursing facility. Many facilities in Wichita offer respite care and/or outpatient therapies. Please begin this process with your Long Term Care sales representative.  That person should be able to guide you so that you can use the benefits that you have been  paying for. If you are not able to contact your representative, find another one through a reputable insurance company. Good luck to you, please let us know how it turns out for you!
